Most of Karen Mueller's students are learning to play guitar or mandolin, and she is a popular teacher for those instruments.  She has been teaching guitar for 25 years, and covers a variety of styles, including flatpicking and fingerpicking techniques in traditional, folk and contemporary music.

Karen is also a nationally acclaimed autoharp and dulcimer player, known for her exciting and innovative performing style. She is a Winfield International Autoharp Champion and National Dulcimer Finalist, and as been playing both instruments for over 20 years. Karen's travels have taken her to all parts of the US and to Ireland, including on stage at the Walnut Valley Festival in Winfield, KS, the Memphis Dulcimer Festival, California Summer Solstice Festival, and the Augusta Heritage Center in West Virginia. She is the author of Mel Bay's Celtic Autoharp book and contributor to their Dulcimer 2000, and has recorded two critically applauded CDs: Clarity, and her latest, Still Point. She makes her home in Minneapolis, where she gives private instruction and is a member of two bands, Piper's Crow (Celtic music), and Strawberry Jam--Bluegrass Music for Kids.  She also performs with Irish singer Katie McMahon.
