Bryan's Web Site
Bryan Bowers has been a major presence on the North American folk music
scene for some forty years. A powerful singer and performer, he is best
known as one of the world’s most accomplished masters of the American
folk instrument, The Autoharp®.
A Flying Fish and Seattle Sounds
recording artist, Bryan’s music has been captured on seven albums:
“Home, Home on the Road”, “By Heart”,
“For You”, “The View From Home”, “Friend for Life”, “Bristlecone
Pine”, and “September in Alaska”.
He also has an instructional DVD titled “Autoharp Techniques” on
Homespun to his credit.
The Chicago Sun-Times said about Bryan “He plays the Autoharp® and when
he picks up the instrument, the entire room changes…a very magical
world, a music never heard before.
Bryan simply says “I want to have a good time and I want people to have
a good time. I want the joy of bringing people together and
communicating…If I can say it like I see it, I can bring happiness.
Karen Mueller won the
1986 International Autoharpâ
Championship held at Winfield, KS. She has since performed for audiences
internationally. Like Bryan, Karen is considered
one of the outstanding Autoharp® players performing today.
She has four CDs to
her credit; “Clarity”, “Still Point”, “Autoharp Gourmet” and “Landscape
of the Heart” . She is a published author having written
Celtic Autoharp and having contributed to Dulcimer 2000 both
published by Mel Bay Publications. Her playing is also featured on two
widely circulated anthology compact discs, Masters of the Mountain
Dulcimer II and Autoharp Legacy.
We are very proud to
have Karen as a member of the Homestead Pickin’ Parlorâ
teaching staff. She teaches at the West Bank School of Music as well.

And There's More...
An Autoharp®
Workshop
Featuring
Bryan Bowers
& Karen Mueller
(Members of the
Autoharp Hall of Fame)
Thursday,
January 14, 2010
6:00 – 9:00 PM
This workshop is a
rare opportunity to spend time with two true masters of this beautiful instrument.
Bryan Bowers sightings are far too infrequent and an opportunity to learn
his Autoharp® techniques most rare. Karen Mueller plays and teaches
far and wide, and we are lucky that she lives here in the Twin Cities,
where she is in high demand as a teacher..
No Autoharp® player of any skill level
should miss this workshop. Bring your instrument and a tape recorder.
Your musical life will never be the same.
Workshop Fee - $50.00

The Hottest Thing in Tuners
|
 |
The PT10 Clip-On Tuner from intellitouch
Clip-on tuners have become ubiquitous* in the music world in recent years. If
you’ve not yet added one to your musical bag of tricks, intellitouch, the makers
of the original clip-on tuner have now given you a good reason for waiting – The
PT10.
The PT-10 features the now familiar LCD Screen that tells you what note you’re
closest to, but it changes color from red to green when you’re in tune. It is
accurate to within one cent. It has a seven octave range from 27Hz to 1,760Hz.
At 2” by 1” by ¾” it weighs in at a mere 2 ounces. A standard CR2032 Lithium
coin cell will provide 10 hours of continuous operation. An A-ref button will
allow you to adjust the reference pitch from 430Hz to 450Hz.
And we’ve saved the best for last. Intellitouch offers a LIFETIME WARRANTY on
the PT-10. In their own words “should this product no longer perform as
originally intended due to wear, workmanship or even accidental damage, return
it postage prepaid and we will repair or replace it at our option”
It’s available now - $ 39.95

Prices May Change -- Please Call
Recently a customer came in to get a book, and the price on the web site
was less than the current price. This sometimes happens when a
product is carried on the web site without looking at prices.
Therefore, please don't rely on the web price we show. If you call
(a good idea just to make sure we have your item in stock), ask for the
current price.
In other words, prices are
subject to change without notice. (Where have you seen that
before?).
Folk Music Venues Page
We used to list on the home page a number of
venues which often (or occasionally) present something which qualifies as
folk or acoustic music events. We've decided to move the list to its
own page, and we'll occasionally make additions and changes to that
list. We hope this will become a useful resource for our customers
looking to hear some live music.
Keep us up to date and spread the word.
Not surprisingly, we've found that folks change their internet providers
(hence their e-mail addresses) much more often than they do their snail mail
addresses. Should you do so, please drop us a note and let us know
where to re-direct our e-mail newsletters. In the world of acoustic music,
we can't afford to lose contact with a single one of our friends in the
music. And if you enjoy reading our periodic e-mail newsletters,
forward a copy to one or more of your friends. Have them send us their
snail mail address, along with their e-mail address, and we'll keep them up to
date on Homestead happenings as well.
Please pass along the Homestead URL -- www.homesteadpickinparlor.com --
to others. If they would like to receive the e-mail newsletter too, have them e-mail Homestead with their snail mail and
electronic addresses as well as a phone number. We'll make sure the next issue heads their
way. |
